RSS function

Post by proteus459 » March 12th, 2010, 8:40 am

I seem to have no luck with RSS functions. I have selected "All Forums" from the list of available feeds in the dropdown to be attached to my Igoogle home page. All I get is the three listed under "Welcome". Selecting the "Computerwise TV Forum" brings me only the "Jared Cohen" thread.

The same thing happened when I selected a RSS feed to display the monthly overflights of the Int'l space station for my location... I got only 3 days-worth.

I have no idea how to access an RSS reader and have depended on these gadgets. Is this a characteristic of the limitations of these gadgets or is it caused by something other malady?

Prot,

There is a bit of a question as to how the old data was affected by the move. You'll notice that if you search for anything, only topics created after the board were moved appear in the list. You should be able to read any of the older material, but it's simply not displaying in search results (and possibly the RSS feed). I must say, I haven't used RSS feeds much, but this is how I understand the different options.

ComputerWise TV Forum - All new topics and replies on every forum
All Forums - displays a listing of all forums as if you were at index.php (not very useful... think we might remove this now that I look at it)
New Topics - displays only the newly created topics and the original poster (i.e. the first post of that topic)
News - All topics created in only the Announcement forum (similar to the one above)
Forum Specific - All topics and replies in a specific forum
Topic Specific - All replies in a specific topic

Note: Only 10-15 results display in the RSS feed. If that turns out to be the previous 3 days, that's all you'll get in the results.

I am still puzzled over the behavior of the feed. This is all I get when I subscribe to "All Forums",

and there have been new postings made on other boards beside these in the past couple of days. I think I'll forgo the RSS business and simply log in each time until the behavior improves.

I am most honored, Sir Cobra... again!

wd, which browser and which RSS reader? I'm simply using the latest Firefox browser and the Google RSS gadget attached to my IGoogle home page.
